Cowlitz River Winter Steelhead Report — Current Conditions

The Cowlitz is producing winter steelhead across multiple sections. Here is where we are fishing and what is working right now.

Winter steelhead fishing on the Cowlitz River is underway, with fish spread from the lower river through the middle sections depending on recent flow events.

Bobber fishing with roe and sand shrimp is producing fish in classic winter holding water. We are working tailouts and inside seams where fish stack during stable or dropping flows.

The Cowlitz handles higher flows better than smaller tributaries, which makes it a reliable option during wet weather when the Kalama or Elochoman are blown out.

Book a 3/4 or full day to work multiple sections. We launch from access points between Castle Rock and the lower river depending on where fish are concentrated.
