The Kalama River is where Chrome City Guide Service calls home. It flows from the Cascade foothills through a canyon of Douglas fir and cedar before joining the Columbia near Kalama — and it produces some of the most consistent winter steelhead fishing in Southwest Washington.
We row drift boats through the Kalama's best runs, bobber fishing for steelhead from January through March and targeting spring Chinook when the run builds in April and May. Fall coho push through October and November, and the river's smaller size makes for intimate, hands-on fishing that keeps anglers engaged all day.
The Kalama rewards local knowledge. Water levels, clarity, and fish movement change quickly after rain — and that is exactly why having a guide who fishes this river every week of the season matters.
