About Chrome City

Guides who love this water.

Chrome City Guide Service was built on one idea: when you come to Southwest Washington to fish, you deserve a guide who actually lives for the river.

Trevor Torppa

Trevor Torppa started Chrome City Guide Service in 2022 because he wanted to spend his life doing what he loves most — fishing, and sharing that experience with others. Growing up in Washington with a family cabin in Kenai, Alaska, he developed a level of skill and professionalism that shows in every trip he runs.

With 10+ years of drift boat experience and mastery of every technique Chrome City offers — fly, spey, spin, centerpin, bobber fishing, back-trolling, and more — Trevor reads Southwest Washington rivers the way other people read the morning news. He knows where fish hold after a rain, when a run is building, and how to adjust when conditions change mid-day.

When he is not guiding on the Kalama, Cowlitz, or Lewis, Trevor writes monthly articles for NW Sportsman Magazine and Salmon Trout Steelheader Magazine. He also owns Soldotna Fishing Guides on Alaska's Kenai River, guiding full-time in both Washington and Alaska through the season.

Trevor's standard is simple: make every trip on the water exceptional whether the fish cooperate or not. That means clear communication, quality gear, patient instruction, and a guide who genuinely cares about your experience.

Zach Torppa

Zach Torppa grew up following his brother Trevor on the river — fishing, rowing, and learning every technique Chrome City uses from the time he was eight years old. In 2026, Zach joins the Chrome City guide team as a full-time Washington guide.

With 5+ years of rowing experience and a genuine love for putting smiles on people's faces, Zach brings energy and patience to every trip. He is especially great with families and first-time anglers who want a guide who makes learning fun.

Zach shares Trevor's passion for the water and the same commitment to making every guest feel welcome, whether they are chasing their first steelhead or their twentieth salmon.

If you want to get on fish and have an awesome time doing it, Trevor is the man! Super knowledgable and feels like he is part of the creek or river you are fishing. My family spent three days on the river with him and my boys took him in like family. Outstanding guide. Even better dude!

I had a great day fishing with Zach. Floating the Kalama was incredibly beautiful with plenty of wildlife. And we netted one beautiful steelhead. Zach shared an abundance of knowledge with me, and we had some great conversation all day. Will absolutely book again!
