FAQ’s

What do I need to bring to my fishing trip?

  • Fishing is heavily affected by the weather and we want to make sure we have adequate gear to keep us comfortable. Simms fishing waders and boots will be provided for you to wear for events like getting in and out of the boat as well as protection from the rain! Sizes will be given to you by email or phone depending on how we get ahold of eachother before our scheduled date!

  • Warm clothing is encouraged under your waders, we can always shed layers but we can never put them on if we don’t have them! I will be in touch with the weather report as well.

  • Snacks and beverages are always encouraged, coolers are here for you to put everything you may bring on board cold and fresh!

  • Washington State fishing liceneses are required on all trips, you can purchase one online or at your nearest tackle shop/sporting goods store. Day licenses are valid. All other questions you can reach me through the Contact section of my page.

What is there to do while I am in town?

  • Aside from the great fishing possibilities, being able to see Washington for it’s beauty outside of fishing is something I would love to help you enjoy while you are here in this beautiful state.

  • When fishing in Cowlitz County (Lewis River, Cowlitz River, Kalama River or Toutle River).

    • My hometown where I grew up is Kelso, Washington. This is one of the main reasons I am able to professionally guide you on all of the rivers listed above because these are my roots. Not only have I explored the rivers and streams that flow into the Columbia River in my region, I have been able to see everything that this magnificent place has to offer outside of fishing. Portland, OR is a short drive from Cowlitz County being about 45 minutes depending on traffic. I suggest visiting Portland whether you are trying to catch a game or a view! Portland is home to many sports teams such as the Trailblazers, Winterhawks, Timbers, and many more including the Portland Pickles which is a collegiate summer baseball league that I participated in. Hiking the Oregon coast is always an option as well, hike guides and trailheads can be found online at TripAdvisor! Great shopping in “China Town” as well as great food can be found when walking through Portland! Portland is a great place to check out, and is very close to some other unique cities such as Eugene, OR home of the Oregon Ducks. A little closer towards Toutle is Mt. St. Helens. Mt. St. Helens is an artifact in itself. This can be toured and viewed from the visitor center with seminars, guides and information regarding the explosion in 1980. These are some things that I would suggest doing while in this area!

  • When fishing in Wahkiakum County or Pacific County (Naselle River, Elochoman River).

    • Long beach is home of some great views and is not far from these rivers listed above. This is where they shot the movie “Goonies” and you can go to the exact site to check it out yourself! This particular activity will be found off the North Jetty in Cape Disappointment. There are endless things to do at the beach whether it be the ice cream parlors, great restaurants, as well as many museums and artifact shops. Not too far away from Long Beach is the Astoria bridge in Astoria, OR. Many people know this place for it’s unbelievable fishing during the famous Buoy 10 season. This old style town holds many places to go and see! The closest place I can compare it to is Homer, Alaska which is home of the Halibut. With many restaurants along the strip, places to see and things to do I would highly recommend checking Astoria out!
